The Fingal Community Car was first piloted in Howth and Skerries in 2019 through a partnership between Fingal County Council, Local Link and volunteer drivers. The scheme continues to operate successfully in the Skerries area and has facilitated more than 1000 passenger journeys during the first six months of 2026. It has helped local people access essential services such as:
• Medical and hospital appointments
• GP and healthcare services
• Shopping and banking facilities
• Community and social activities
• Other essential local services
Fingal County Council is exploring opportunities to expand the scheme to additional communities and would like to hear your views. They would also like to gauge interest from potential volunteers who may be interested in supporting the scheme in the future.
Consultation period runs from Friday 31 July until Friday 28 August 2026 at 5.00pm and is available at Surveys | Fingal County Council Online Consultation Portal
