St Stephen’s Green Trust: Family Matters Grant Programme 2022-2025

The SSGT Family Matters grant programme is open again for applications from groups working across the island. The programme aim is to contribute to improving the system of support for families affected by convictions and imprisonment to improve rehabilitation and resettlement outcomes. We believe that putting families at the heart of the criminal justice system is the ‘golden thread’ which can reduce the harm of imprisonment and contribute to rehabilitation. Evidence shows that prisoners who manage to maintain family bonds whilst in prison have significantly reduced reoffending risks upon release. Families cannot bear this burden alone and should be supported in this role.

The grant programme has two strands: one for smaller grants to test new approaches or add value to current work (up to €7,000/£6,000) and the second for longer-term more strategic work (up to €25,000/£21,500).

Details of the scheme including criteria and a link to the online application forms can be found here.  The deadline for receipt of applications is Thurs 21st Sept 2023.
