89th Bremore Scout Group put the “OUT” back in Scouting #CoronavirusSolidarity #CommunityCall

BIG NEWS

89th Bremore Scout Group want to help put the “OUT” back in Scouting. We know that it can be difficult to get motivated while we are under the current restrictions, but that is why it is more important than ever.

We want to help the members of our group and their families to get some fresh air into their lungs and get out for some exercise within the 2k radius from home.

Having a goal helps to motivate yourself so we decided to set 2 goals to get super motivated.

GOAL 1 – We want YOU to run/jog/walk a Marathon in May. That is a distance of 42.2Km. Broken down it’s under 1.4Km per day (about 16 mins at a good pace). Starting on Friday 1st May

GOAL 2 – While doing this there is an option to raise funds for Balbriggan Cancer Support Group via a Go Fund Me page (link below). This is completely optional, but it would be a lovely gesture. Our goal here is to raise €500 for them.

How will it work?

We have set up a “Team” on an Activity Tracking App called Team Fit – available on Android and IOS. You can use it to log your activity. You don’t have to do it every day. You can go for longer runs/walks as long as you add up to 42.2Km for the month of May. We can keep an eye on how everyone is getting on in the app and what your total distance is. If you have another activity tracker that you prefer, no problem. You can log your activity manually in the Team Fit app and it will still add your distance in. All you need to get started is a code to join the team. We will send that out via private pages and ask that you do not share it with anyone outside of the group.

Leaders will be posting messages of encouragement on our social media platforms and on private parent pages as well.

Let’s get out of the house.

Stretch our Legs.

Fill our Lungs.

Refresh our Minds.

Feel the Weather.
