Turvey Nature Reserve is a gem of semi-natural Dublin wilderness. Under constant management by Fingal County Council, the area features wild meadows, restored wetlands, forest walks and the Broadmeadows Estuary, which is a mecca for a vast range of ducks, waders and geese in winter months. Winter visitors include golden plover, lapwing, curley, black-tailed godwits, dunlin, redshank, shelduck, wigeon, teal and light-bellied brent geese. Turvey also attracts several bird of prey: peregrine falcon, sparrowhawk, merlin, and buzzard can all be found there, and there are also several barn owl nests on site.
This event is suitable for families. All welcome, no booking necessary. Scopes and binoculars, sponsored by Fingal County Council, will be provided.
Please note this event involves walking and standing outdoors, so bring comfortable / appropriate clothing and footwear. The route will be wheelchair accessible.
