“I’m writing as part of a research project in UCD about the health effects of people’s housing conditions.

We’re collecting information about a range of different health hazards linked to poor housing conditions. One specific issue we’re looking at is lead in people’s water supplies, which is a major health hazard for young children, but there’s very little being done about it. We’re also interested in collecting information about other health problems linked to poor housing conditions.

We’re very interested in collaborating with community organisations as part of the project. We can provide funding for community events, like picnics or any type of social event, if we could use it to do a quick presentation of what the project is about and encourage people to participate in it, for example by getting their water tested for lead (which we can organise).

As a first step we’re trying to identify groups that might be interested in collaborating with us. As such we were wondering if you might be able to circulate our request to groups in the Fingal PPN network?

If any individuals or groups are interested we will be organising some workshops towards the end of January or in early February (the exact date is TBC) to explain what the project is about and what we can provide in more detail. In the meantime if you or anyone else has questions or would like more information about the project please contact fiadh.tubridy@ucd.ie

Kind regards,

Fiadh Tubridy
