The Wheel Updates

Budget 2025

This Autumn has been marked by Budget 2025 and the long-anticipated general election. The Pre-Budget Submission 2025, Future is Community, outlined The Wheel’s vision for thriving communities and included detailed spending proposals across a range of areas.

The analysis of Budget 2025 welcomes the series of measures sought by members of The Wheel as reflected in the pre-Budget submission. However, more remains to be done to support sector organisations and the people they serve.  You can watch the Budget 2025 analysis webinar here

General Election

The election presents an important opportunity to get the sector’s issues onto the agenda and into the next Programme for Government. To begin that process, The Wheel launched their General Election Manifesto last week, calling on candidates to support a secure future for the community and voluntary sector. Some of the priorities sought include:

  • The development of a strategy for a sustainable community and voluntary sector
  • Multi-annual funding
  • The cost-of-compliance to be included in all funding
  • Support for organisations at the forefront of the crises in health, housing, social care, children and youth, and sustainability.

On 13 November, The Wheel will hold a General Election Hustings with representatives from political parties. Come along to ask questions and hear how candidates will put community at the heart of the next Programme for Government.
