The Roadmap for Social Inclusion 2026–2030 was published in May 2026 and launched at the Social Inclusion Forum.
The Roadmap outlines the government’s plan to reduce poverty and improve social inclusion over the next five years, with the ambition to:
- reduce consistent poverty to 2% or less by the end of 2030
- reduce income inequality and
- make Ireland one of the most socially inclusive countries in the European Union
To support delivery of this ambition and the Roadmap’s high-level objectives, the strategy sets out 63 cross-government actions. Given the multi-dimensional nature of poverty, these actions span a wide range of government areas, including income supports, employment, housing, education, health, transport, childcare and community supports.
The Roadmap aims to ensure a coordinated, whole of Government approach to addressing poverty and improving social inclusion.
It was developed following a public consultation, which received almost 500 responses.
