The North Irish Sea Array, also known as NISA, is an offshore wind energy project being proposed off the coast of counties Dublin, Meath and Louth, bringing with it an opportunity to significantly contribute to the development of a clean, renewable energy future.
This proposal is targeting a planning submission date in 2023 and once operational, would have the capacity to provide renewable energy for approximately 500,000 homes.
The last year has seen the project progress with extensive offshore and onshore environmental and geophysical surveys, in-depth liaison with coastal and in-land communities, consultation with the fishers and receipt of an ORESS-1 contract.
Taking a considered approach to our design following our surveys and public consultation, the project has also gone through a number of design review processes to ensure it can deliver the most benefit and importantly in the most appropriate way.
As NISA continues to evolve and moves towards planning and consent, providing information on the project’s current position and engagement with the public remains critical to the development process. They are currently working on creating photomontages of the proposed working design layout which will form a key part to the next phase of public consultation, due to commence this summer.
The project website will also continue to serve as an important resource to host all developments as they unfold. These include the design, a precise project map layout, photomontages, a project timeline and the range of surveys which have been carried out to-date.
