Mother Tongues Festival

Mother Tongues Festival encourages everyone to
‘celebrate the rich kaleidoscope of languages spoken in Ireland today’

The Mother Tongues Festival, the largest festival celebrating linguistic diversity through the arts in Ireland, will take place from Monday, 21st to Saturday, 26th February 2022.

Venues in Tallaght and Blanchardstown, hubs of cultural diversity, will host six days of workshops, panel discussions, dance, music, art, live performances, films and storytelling across more than 10 languages. The Festival features all facets of the arts and has something for all ages.

As part of this festival IMYLA – Interactive Museum of Languages for Young Audiences – is holding an exhibition at Draíocht, Blanchardstown from, 23-25 February.

IMLYA is a creative resource that supports children’s self-expression and creativity, drawing on living and ancient languages to reflect on the diversity of languages in our environment.

Each component is designed to be interactive and is accompanied by a range of activities for children between the ages of 5 and 12 that spark children’s interest in other languages and cultures and in getting to talk about their own languages.

Participants will be supported and lead through the different elements of IMLYA by Artist Alexandra Gogan, who will help you and your child get the most out of the exhibition.
