Lanistown Castle – 3D virtual tour

Discover the castle near St Colman’s church! This 3D virtual tour provides access to Lanistown Castle in the grounds of Newbridge Demesne. One of few surviving tower houses in Fingal, Lanistown Castle is a three storey dwelling probably built in the 15th century by the Bathe family. It continued to was occupied until the early 19th century when the adjoining and surrounding buildings were demolished by the then owner, Charles Cobbe.

Lanistown Castle is a recipient of a grant from the 2024 Community Monuments Fund. Consolidation works will include essential masonry and mortar repairs to address structural failure, loss of mortar and masonry, water ingress; and to arrest and retard the damage arising from the accelerated effects of climate change.
