The National Transport Authority has awarded €19k funding for Bike Week 2023 activities to Fingal County Council.
Bike Week is a week-long celebration of the benefits of cycling. Bike Week 2023 will take place from Saturday 13 to Sunday 21 May 2023. Fingal County Council’s Active Travel unit is looking forward to offering a variety of events throughout the County.
Director of Services for Environment, Climate Action and Active Travel, David Storey says: “Bike Week is an annual event that we are delighted to be part of. Promoting the benefits of hopping on a bike and giving people the opportunity to have positive cycling experiences is an important part of our drive to get Fingal pedalling for the good of our communities, our climate, and our health.”
Cycling and Walking Officer Stephen McGinn says that NTA funding is essential to Fingal County Councils work. “This year’s funding announcement of more than €19,000 from the National Transport Authority for Bike Week promotion and events is great news for everyone. It means we can offer a fun, educational and wide-reaching Bike Week programme in Fingal. There is a cycling opportunity out there to suit everyone whether it’s taking part in Cycling Without Age for older people, enjoying our annual schools events or coming along to our Family Fun days where there’s a ton of fun to be had with bikes.”
Fingal County Council will be releasing their 2023 events programme shortly and say they are excited to welcome their largest audience to date to events across Fingal from 13-21 May. Keep an eye on www.fingal.ie/bikeweek and get ready to enjoy Bike Week 2023.
