Census Pilot Survey – Swords

The Central Statistics Office (CSO) is running a Census Pilot Survey in September. The Census Pilot Survey is a crucial part of preparation for Ireland’s next census in 2027 which will be the first census in Irish history where the public can complete their census form online.

Traditionally, the purpose of a pilot census has been to test new and changed questions for the next census. In the case of this Census Pilot Survey, not only will the Survey help test new questions, it has the added importance of testing an online option for the first time in history of the Irish census.

There are 44 selected pilot areas in the following six counties, Cork, Dublin, Kilkenny, Louth, Mayo and Offaly. The survey covers 20,000 homes in total. In Swords the pilot areas are Kinsealy/Melrose Park; Brookdale; Balheary/South Bank; Abbeyvale/Berwick; and Oaklands/Seatown.
